Encouraging though strict in structure. Professor Beery has high expectations, as evidenced from his continuous stream of grueling assignments, and it is clear that he expects nothing less than a student's personal best. He appreciates and recognizes effort and assigns a student his or her notes based on what he or she puts forth. Though not very familiar himself, students often speak to Herbert on an even level and he appears to tolerate it solely from those he (blatantly) favors. Others are punished according to the infraction. He often doles out detentions during the first two-three weeks to set an example of proper behaviour but becomes somewhat more tolerable around a month into the term. Again, favored students are more likely to receive lines (or an arguably enjoyable assemblage in the greenhouses with Beery himself) than any physical discipline.
cuthbert binns History of Magic
Professor Binns prefers to simply lecture to his class to teach them instead of having discussions, as he believes that the discussions only distract students instead of teaching them. It is almost as though Cuthbert is simply reading the textbook aloud for himself as he hardly pays attention to people raising their hands, and if he were to call on someone, he will likely mess up their names. He always seems very bored, or very tired, and never goes out of his way to befriend any of the students.
barnabas blenkinsop Librarian
The Librarians duty is to connect students (and professors!) with information needed to complete their work and improve their knowledge base. This is done by maintaining and organizing the Hogwarts Library collection as well as providing access to more advanced/restricted materials as determined appropriate by the Heads of Houses, Professors, Headmaster, & Librarian.
Master Blenkinsop treats those who respect the library well enthusiastically; with others he does not spare the glare -- or the wand.
armando dippet Headmaster
Headmaster Dippet is a fatherly sort of man, brilliant but oblivious of the students' shenanigans. Though a bit of a favouritist, he's happy to give out advice when needed -- usually along the lines of "chin up, pip pip!"
albus dumbledore Transfiguration
Strict but casual, Dumbledore encourages his students, valuing discussion and independence. He works to make sure that both the advanced and struggling have a place in his classroom, and has a great deal of enthusiasm about his position.
mordicus egg Muggle Tolerance
Mordicus is that teacher who attempts to be everyone's best friend. He knows that while he has an advantage over most professors in the fact that the students taking his class all want to be there he still has a subject that requires struggling with preconceived notions. He attempts to be as open-minded as possible and accepts any beliefs in his classroom. Even the most purist of students are encouraged to be honest about what they believe and why.
schroedinger euler Arithmancy
Nice, if a little absent-minded, students' biggest complaint about Professor Euler is his practise of parallel-teaching. Every year, he has students follow the same sequence of topics, advancing in difficulty each year. Otherwise, he's helpful if a bit blind to the every day woes of his students, and is always up for a 'rousing game of chess' -- which he will suggest in the face of nearly any crisis.
filius flitwick Charms
Flitwick is loving and encouraging and fond of each and every one of his students, even the trouble makers. He strives to make learning natural and fun, not regimented, as he feels that magic comes from within and can not be compressed on and forced into a young person, rather it has to be drawn out through patience and practice. Lectures are usually entertaining and livened by practical and often amusing demonstrations and lessons, and even exams are made more interesting by amusing twists to questions or ridiculous requests for practical demonstration. Classes are somewhat casual outside of the weekly lecture, and the desks are usually pushed to one side so there is plenty of room for practice. Flitwick encourages students to talk and interact with each other, as he feels they learn best working together and having fun.

zamira gulch Practical Magic
Zamira tries her hardest to make the many topics that are covered as intriguing as possible and puts a great deal of effort into keeping the girls alert during her long lectures: she wants them to fall in love with what they are learning, and to subsequently become clever women who are prepared for the situations that are thrown at them. Zamira prides herself on being a very perceptive and involved professor, one who her students may confide in if needed. She won't judge them! That's her promise! Their youth brings her happiness and joy (and to a lesser extent, jealousy), and is a constant reminder of better days. It is rare that her students annoy her, but she does not like tardiness or when girls try to have conversations during her lectures.
inigo imago Divination
He has no tolerance for those who do not pay attention and he refuses to coddle those who struggle in his class. He is admittedly biased toward those who are enthusiastic toward the subject -- those who greet his class with skepticism are met with impatience. In general, he is prone to become impatient with his students, and sees his lesson plans as vigorous, difficult and something that must be taken very seriously in order for his students to excel. To students not in his classes, he is very much the same -- impatient, sometimes abrupt, but easier on those who show him respect.
silvanus kettleburn Care of Magical Creatures
Kettleburn has a tendency either to wind up as a student's favorite professor, or their most hated. He's young enough to still feel approachable and will make time to help any of his students (and even ones that aren't in the class that still have an interest in magical creatures), but if he feels that someone is taking the class because it's a "joke" or an easy O, his patience is gone in a flash.
galatea merrythought Defence Against Dark Arts
While for the most part Galatea is a kind professor, understanding to a student in need, she does not have much tolerance for troublemakers and those who deliberately interrupt the learning of their fellow students. Galatea prescribes to the age old philosophy of "Spare the rod, spoil the child," though she is not switch-happy. Her students know they cannot get away with much in her classroom and that she does not give any points on late assignments without a legitimate reason, though she still expects the students to complete it anyway. She is always happy, however, to talk about subjects above and beyond what is taught in the classroom

cephEia sinistra Astronomy
Cepheia is more impatient with her students than a good professor ought to be and doesn't like having to repeat herself. However, she enjoys the subject matter that she teaches and explains things in depth in any situation that requires an explanation. She wants to make certain her students understand what she's teaching, and expects a great deal from them. Very firm about maintaining a strictly student/professor relationship, Cepheia doesn't fancy herself their friend and feels the same should be true for them of her. She also feels that there are plenty of other professors who are approachable and, while her office doors are certainly always open, she doesn't put a whole lot of effort into seeming approachable.
horace slughorn Potions
Slughorn will begin class with a lecture and call upon his students so that they can demonstrate their knowledge. Afterwards, students will be asked to do some sort of practical work. Most often, Slughorn approaches his classes with enthusiasm for his subject, but can be distracted if told jokes or asked about his history, something some students are all too willing to exploit. Though he certainly has favourites, even they aren't exempt from criticism, because Slughorn believes that it's necessary for learning and growth.
For as much as he may seem an opportunist who uses Hogwarts to further himself and his connections (and truly, he is), he also truly enjoys teaching gifted students and helping further their growth.

vindictus viridian Duelling
The emphasis in Professor Vindictus's class is on spell-work, application, and thinking on one's feet rather than theory and academics. Classes typically focus on minimalist theory and demonstrations followed by practise and paired duels which he observes. In lieu of traditional homework, students are to attend office hours each week to practice their spell-work.
It is a well-known fact that Professor Viridian treats each of his students differently based on their intelligence and demonstrated duelling abilities. He is very demanding of every boy in his class, but is the most critical of those he believes have real skills and potential. He is also willing to teach his favourite students more advanced material outside of class. The worst boys in class are not ignored, however, but called up to the front of the class for his favourites to demonstrate on. He is fond of threatening to send his worst students to Practical Magic so they can bake muffins for him instead.
