School Rules

hogwarts.rules

Students are expected to abide by Hogwarts rules or receive appropriate discipline. In terms of IC play, most minor transgressions are up to the player's discretion, so long as the character is not being blatant about it. Large breaches of discipline must be passed by the mod, who will roll for whether the character is caught or not. I do encourage people to be daring! Discipline adds to the atmosphere and gives characters stuff to talk about.

student.conduct
  1. Breakfast, lunch, and supper will be served promptly at 7:00am, 12:00pm, and 6:00pm; students will arrive to meals in a timely manner and remain dignified. Wasting food or creating a ruckus in the Great Hall will result in punishment.
  2. Students will respect student and staff authority at all times. Insubordinance will not be tolerated and students may be dismissed from class for rude behaviour.
  3. Students will not smoke during practical classes (those involving actual wand-work) or while serving detention.
  4. Wands must be kept within robes, not in trouser pockets.
  5. Classes are compulsory and refusal to attend may result in detention.
  6. Consumption of alcohol during term is forbidden with the single exception of butterbeer, which students are permitted to purchase at Hogsmeade; butterbeer may not be consumed before or during class periods.
  7. Students will not appear outside common rooms in any state of intoxication.
  8. Students are forbidden from leaving Hogwarts grounds outside of Hogsmeade weekends. Any student breaking this rule risks expulsion.
  9. Duelling unsupervised by professors is not permitted.
  10. Curfew is at 10:00pm (22:00); all students except on-duty prefects must be in their house common rooms. There is no bed-curfew, though students are expected to arrive at morning classes on time and attentive.
  11. Kissing on the lips outside of common rooms is against the rules, and is frowned upon regardless of location. Anything more intimate than kissing is strictly forbidden at Hogwarts.

dress.code
  1. Required items include: at least two sets of plain work robes, one winter cloak (unadorned, plain fastenings), one wand, one standard size 2 pewter cauldron
  2. All students are required to be in school uniform outside the common room. This includes a cleaned and starched blouse; a waistcoat, jumper, or pullover; a house tie; trousers or a skirt; nondescript black shoes; black robes.
  3. Students are expected to be clean and well-groomed for class.
  4. When not in uniform, students will wear appropriate, well-mended, and clean clothing that is not provocative, embellished, or anti-patriotic.
banned.items
  1. Alcoholic beverages and other intoxicants, with the exception of butterbeer.
  2. Indecent material, including but not limited to: erotica, comics or magazines depicting naked bodies or sexual positions, explicit romance novels, pin-ups, German reading material, anti-British propaganda.
  3. Dark objects or poisons of any sort; possession may result in discipline ranging from detention to expulsion.
