These indicate the 10th to 90th percentiles of height, which means there may be a few students who are beyond these ranges (shorter or taller). I'll accept a few, but not many, and there should be a reason for it (as in, it's important to their personality/background). NOTE we are currently not accepting any more males beyond the max range of their age.

Prompt: A magical bomb has just fallen on [city] and the Daily Prophet has not been delivered with the names of the dead because of an owl 'black out' at the school. Everyone is in a state of uneasy apprehension. Your character has family in the area and has no way of contacting them.

2. RP sample. Choose one of the prompts below; include dialogue and narration.

Prompt 1: Your character has just been caught sneaking out after dark with a banned item on his or her person. Professor Kettleburn looks like he might accept a particularly creative excuse to return your character to his or her common room without incident.

Prompt 2: Olive Hornby has just screamed out across the dining hall that your character is madly in love with a third year and she saw them snogging outside the prefect's washroom. Everyone is looking and waiting for his or her response.

Hi Kara --

Philandra is off to a good start, but there are some areas we'd like you to edit or embellish upon.
- Philandra wouldn't have been allowed jewellery at school, so we would like you to note that in the appearance section where you discuss her jewellery box and garishness; perhaps you can comment on her reaction to the rule, or simply note that she had to leave them at home
- As Philandra's family is presumably educated middle class rather than working class, it is more likely that, if schooled at home, she would speak mainstream Received Pronunciation, though you may note some influences of a working-class London dialect (I do not believe Estuary English existed in its present form sixty years ago). If she's trying to get back in the good graces of the 'gentry', however, she would have likely been trained in Received Pronunciation.
- Though it is explained in her history why she is engaged at such a young age, we would like you to have the relationship between Philandra and Avery be courting until she has reached the age where she would normally have her début.
- With regard to her grades, as her activities are maxed out and she is not a Ravenclaw, we'd like to see her P dropped down to a D or one of her As dropped to a P to average them out a little more
- We would also like you to explain, in either her history or education section, why she was invited to the slug club (father's connexions) and what about her convinced Slughorn to let her stay (talents)
- Given her attitudes about blood, we'd like you to spend some time discussing how that impacted her relationships with her peers in Hufflepuff, a house that is generally anti-purist. As her first person sample suggests she is more vocal about her opinions, it is important to discuss how she would react to the negative attention garnered by that behaviour and how it affects her socially.
- On a more nitpicky note, please note that a 50 galleon theremin would be equivalent to 17,000 dollars in current money (please see the money page for clarification) and so that should be edited to reflect current values.
