Rules/Punishments: Journals

rules & punishments.journals

These are rules and a guideline for punishments specific to the journals.

1. Swearing (mudblood is included in swear words)

  • prefects or professors (if they feel so inclined)
  • public: 2-5 points depending on severity
  • under wards: reprimand

2. Insubordination: student authority; defined as disrespect of a prefect or head student. Disagreeing politely is not forbidden, but it should not develop into an argument. Concerns about prefects should be brought to heads of house, not aired publicly in journals.

  • prefects or professors (if they feel so inclined)
  • public: 5 points; multiple offences should be reported to the head of house
  • under wards: reprimand; multiple offences should be reported to the head of house
  • prefects with grievances against other prefects should go directly to their head of house rather than publicly disagreeing.

3. Insubordination: professors; defined as arguing with or disrespecting a professor.

  • professors
  • punishment at professor's discretion; multiple offences should be reported to the student's head of house, and ultimately the headmaster if offences do not stop

4. Threatening; threats of violence against another student.

  • prefects or professors (if they feel so inclined)
  • public: 5 points; if the threat is deemed serious enough by the prefect, he or she may report it to a professor
  • under wards: reprimand; if the threat is deemed serious enough by the prefect, he or she may report it to a professor
